Program Director
Senior Special Education Teacher, Educational Therapist
Rachael Magdelene
I have had the honour of working with children with learning differences and complex needs for more than 12 years. My previous experience included several lead roles in government special education schools, one of which was the Cerebral Palsy Alliance Singapore. I then joined Kaleidoscope’s Ready Let’s Go program in 2020. My lead role positions have provided opportunities for curriculum planning and development, and given me responsibility for a team.
Much of my career has involved working closely with other disciplines, enabling me to have an in-depth understanding, and respect, for the roles of different professionals. This has solidified my belief that, when children have complex needs, a multidisciplinary approach helps to make sure that all of the child’s needs are being met. Parents are an important part of this team and their knowledge, and feedback, is crucial when planning individual educational profiles, in order to identify holistic goals that support a child’s learning across all environments.
In my latest role as the program director of Kaleidoscope Academy, I am fully invested in creating a curriculum that is aligned with ethical, respectful, and neurodiversity-affirming practices.I am also excited to be at the helm of a program that truly focuses on our students academic potential , emotional wellbeing, and rights to self advocacy.
Although I am responsible for curriculum planning, managing the team, supervising EIPs, and coordinating meetings and parent conferences, I will continue to be a hands-on teacher, as that is what really brings joy to my day.
