Under Pressure by Lisa Damour

This book is a great read for parents of teenage girls, especially if they are struggling with anxiety. The author is a psychologist who has worked extensively with adolescents and she provides the reader with deep insight into the psyche of girls, and the struggles they face, during this complex phase of life.

The book talks about the seven transitional stages that girls go through and gives parents solid, practical advice on how to understand, and support, them through these changes. It delves into many areas that parents and their daughters find hard to navigate and provides practical strategies that help to build a trusting, loving relationship even with the trickiest of teens.

If you have a daughter and are concerned about her emotional wellbeing or behaviour, you may find it helpful to consult someone who has experience supporting teenage girls. Our psychologist, Dr Belinda, would be happy to help.

The book is usually available in major book stores or on-line retailers including Amazon.
