Rachel Thomas
I am a pediatric physiotherapist from Singapore who is passionate about enabling, and empowering, children and their families to live their best lives, regardless of age, background, or ability.
I started my journey as a physiotherapist in 2016, working in the National University Hospital’s department of paediatrics, and in KK Children’s Hospital. I gained valuable experience working with infants, children, adolescents and adults with disabilities, and was largely involved in neuro-rehabilitation, pre- and post-surgical rehabilitation, orthopaedic conditions (such as clubfoot, leg length discrepancies and torticollis), equipment prescription (such as standing frames and 24-hour positioning), and vestibular rehabilitation.
I have a particular interest in neonatal care, early intervention, and educating people on the importance of physical wellbeing for all life stages. I believe that children’s physiotherapy needs to be fun, and that establishing a trusting relationship with the child is hugely important. I have completed training in the DIR Floortime model and developmental play so that I can better incorporate a play-based, child-centred approach into my work.
