Uniquely Human Podcast – Echolalia and Unconventional Verbal Behaviour (Episode 45)

Many of our children have echolalia and the reasons for this are not always well understood. Advice on what to do can be confusing and contradictory. Echolalia means the repetition of speech, and this podcast explains all about it, including its role in language development.

This topic is of special interest to Dr Barry Prizant, the podcast host, who began researching it many years ago. In the podcast, he interviews an autistic woman who had echolalia as a child and shares her lived experience. His co-presenter, Dave Finch, is autistic too and we think you will agree, that the whole episode is fascinating.
