Floortime Strategies To Promote Development in Children and Teens

A User’s Guide to the DIR Floortime Model

This book has been written specifically to help parents implement DIR Flootime strategies at home. It provides sequential activities around the DIR model’s developmental capacities. The goal of this model is to support a child’s social-emotional and cognitive development. It is rooted in a relationship-based approach that is playful and respectful.

The book helps parents to enhance their child’s ability to attend, and regulate, and teaches the importance of co-regulation through all life stages. By following the child’s interests, respecting their individual differences (such as sensory preferences), and being emotionally attuned, parents learn how to build and expand skills.

If you are interested in learning more about this approach, the best way to do so is to work with a DIR trained therapist. You can also listen to a podcast by one of the authors, Dr Andrea Davis, here:
